Company formation in Bournemouth
Registering a company takes minutes online. Registering it correctly - the right share structure, the right registrations, the right year end - is what saves you money and unpicking work later. We set companies up properly for people across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch, and then stay on to run them.
Who this is for
- People going self-employed who are unsure whether to be a sole trader or a company
- Sole traders whose profits have grown enough that a company may now be worth it
- Business partners who need shares split fairly from the start
- Contractors setting up their own limited company
- Landlords forming a buy-to-let SPV
What's included
- A conversation first about whether a limited company is genuinely right for you
- Name check and incorporation at Companies House, usually the same day
- Share structure designed for how you will actually take money out
- Correct SIC codes for your trade - and for property companies, the ones lenders expect
- Registration for Corporation Tax, and for PAYE and VAT when you need them
- A sensible year end chosen rather than the default one
- Guidance on business banking, record-keeping and what to do in month one
How it works
-
Is a company right for you?
Free consultation. We look at your expected profit, whether you need the income immediately, and what your clients expect. Sometimes a sole trader is better and we will tell you.
-
We incorporate it
Name, directors, shareholders, share structure and SIC codes, filed at Companies House - normally live within a day.
-
Set up to run
Corporation Tax registration, PAYE or VAT if needed, and a clear list of what happens next and when. From there we can handle the accounts, payroll and returns.
What happens after incorporation
Companies House sets your first accounting reference date at the end of the month you incorporated in, twelve months on. Your first accounts cover a slightly longer period and are due 21 months after incorporation; after that, nine months after each year end.
You must register for Corporation Tax with HMRC within three months of starting to trade. A confirmation statement is due every year even if nothing has changed.
Getting the basics right at the start - separate business bank account, records from day one, an understanding of what is company money and what is yours - avoids nearly every problem we see in first-year companies.
Common questions
Should I be a sole trader or a limited company?
It depends on profit level, whether you need all the income to live on, your attitude to admin, and what your clients expect. Below roughly £30,000 profit the tax difference is often small and a company adds cost. We will run the comparison for you honestly.
How long does it take to register a company?
Usually the same day, occasionally 24 hours if Companies House needs to review the name.
What is a SIC code and does it matter?
It describes what your company does. For most businesses it is a formality; for property companies it matters a great deal, because buy-to-let lenders check for specific codes.
Can you be my registered office?
Yes, we can act as registered office so Companies House and HMRC post comes to us rather than your home address.
What happens after the company is formed?
Corporation Tax registration, a business bank account, and record-keeping from day one. We give you a checklist, and we handle the filings from there.
