How it works
-
Set up
We register you as an employer with HMRC if you are not already, get your pension scheme connected and set your pay schedule.
-
Every pay run
You send us hours and changes, we run the payroll, submit RTI, send out payslips and tell you exactly what to pay and when.
-
Books that stay current
Bookkeeping done monthly or quarterly so VAT returns, MTD updates and the year-end accounts all come off records that are already right.
Deadlines and penalties
RTI submissions must reach HMRC on or before each pay date. Late submissions attract penalties that scale with the number of employees, and they are charged per month.
PAYE and National Insurance are payable by the 22nd of the following month electronically, or the 19th by post. P60s must be with employees by 31 May and P11Ds filed by 6 July where benefits are provided.
Auto-enrolment obligations start with your first employee: assess them, enrol those who qualify, and re-declare compliance to the Pensions Regulator every three years. Fines start at £400 and then run daily.
Common questions
How much does payroll cost?
It is a fixed monthly fee based on how many people you pay and how often. Book a free consultation and we will quote you before you commit.
Can you take over an existing payroll mid-year?
Yes, at any point. We take the year-to-date figures from your current system so nothing restarts and no employee is affected.
Do I need payroll for just myself as a director?
If you take a salary, yes - a director's payroll still needs RTI submissions. It is small, quick and inexpensive to run, and it keeps your National Insurance record intact.
Can I keep my own books and just have you check them?
Yes, that is a common arrangement. We set up the software, agree how you record things, and review the books before each VAT return or year end.
My bookkeeping is a year behind. Is that a problem?
No, we do catch-up work regularly. It is better to deal with it than to keep putting it off, especially with MTD's quarterly reporting on the way.
